I purchased this to deep water our trees that were newly planted in the spring. The TX drought was taking a toll on them and the ground was so hard and had deep cracks throughout that when watered the water ran off of where it truly needed to be. With the deep root irrigator I am now able to cut my watering time in half. I can do a deep water and have it get right to the root system. My trees perked up almost instantly. Others stated there should be a turnoff on the item, I went to Lowes and purchased a .97 cent turnoff and it works great! This item definetely saves time and water since it doesn't runoff and gets to where it needs to be!

Seems well built. Squirts water straight down from a single hole. I had a similar unit that squirted water to the side from two opposite holes. Liked that better because it wet a wider area.
 Good but Leaks August 1, 2007

This waterer does what it says it will. It does spray out of the joint where the handle and rod are joined. I think it is a design flaw, not a shipping issue. I don't like this, but the other waterers I found of this style are $100s of dollars.
