Not quite as good as Young Frankenstein, but still hilarious January 14, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love the Sherlock Holmes stories, and I definitely love Gene Wilder, so the marriage of the two is perfect for me. Gene Wilder is always funny, especially in Young Frankenstein, but this movie is a close second. It is truly hilarious (although I will admit some of the amusement comes from not quite getting the obscure jokes). The same side-splitting cast from Young Frankenstein is in this movie and they are singing and dancing as usual. This is a must have DVD for any rainy day; it will put you in a good mood and have you laughing in seconds.
Funniest in 30 Years!!! December 26, 2007 I saw this flick on the big screen 30 years ago... My dad and I laughed so hard we were almost thrown out! Then 30 years later we watched it again in the comfort of my home. We laughed even harder!
not so much.. November 17, 2007 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I remember seeing this when it came out at the theater in 1975 and thought it was fairly lame..and it still is. The highlight is Gene Wilder doing commentary track on his work. Also not in wide screen..full screen only DVD. Oh well.
A crazy bit of fun! November 5, 2007 If you're a Gene Wilder fan (and who isn't) you'll enjoy this outrageous spoof of a Sherlock Holmes adventure! The "come on and hop" song alone will stay with you forever. Definitely worth a space on your shelf for those nights when only something silly and fun will do!
Funny Film Sherlock . October 30, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you love Young Frankenstein then you'll love this spoof on Sherlock Holmes. (Gene Wilder) Plays Sherlock Holme's Brother Who is given a case to solve, very reluctant at first he take the case of mystery woman play wonderfully by, the late Madeline Kahn who comic time makes me laugh when paired up with Gene they're great together. Also starring is that funny man with big eyes Marty Feldman Who plays a Guy with a wonderful memory and recall of everybody's conversation. the two together they track the suspect to Mystery of who done it. Such a Funny Comedy With Smart Wit and Mild Sexual Humor.
Highly Recommended.
PG For Lauguage and Mild Sexual Humor.
