The principal of Jill and Gwen's school promised to spend the morning on the roof if the kids read one thousand books during their reading marathon -- and they did! Now he's on the roof, and he's going to read an original science fiction story Gwen wrote.
But he could fall off the roof is he doesn't stop sneezing. Is it a coincidence that Gwen's story is about aliens who live on roofs and make humans sneeze? Fletcher knows that Gwen would never pull a dangerous practical joke just to make her story come try. But can he prove it before Gwen's in big trouble?

It's a fantastic bookDecember 2, 2004 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Do you like very funny dramatic books? Well Principal on the Roof by Elizabeth Lewis is a great book for you. It's about a reading marathon that is happening at Ella's school. The kids need to read 1000 books so the principal will spend the morning reading them a book on the roof. Do you think the kids would read 1000 books before the end of April? Well, read this book to find out. by:Nashaiyaa
Another Awesome Book by Ms. Levy!April 9, 2003 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
As a 4th grade teacher, I use a lot of Elizabeth Levy's books in my classroom. My students absolutely LOVE the "Something Queer..." stories. They get very wrapped up in the mysteries and they enjoy the Gwen and Jill characters. There is ONE character that they love above all others, and that is- Fletcher the Bassett Hound. We were all very excited to learn that Elizabeth and Mordicai would be working on books told from Fletcher's point of view. This book is delightful and funny--a great read aloud. I would also reccommend, "A Hare Raising Tale" and ALL of the Something Queer books. Not just for kids, but for dog lovers and mystery lovers alike!!!
