Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Mommy got me a brand new potty!

But I'm not ready yet!

I want to run and play.

Uh-oh, I peed in my pants.

But Mommy says, "That's okay!"

Children will love following along and lifting the flaps to see the child play, sit on thepotty, eat, sit on the potty, sleep, and then sit on the potty...until finally there is success.

Written from a child's point of view, this new potty-training book will help children join in the final refrain, "I'm so proud of me!"

2 out of 5 stars My son loves it. I think its so-so.   December 2, 2008
YoMama (Greensboro, NC)
My almost-two year old son absolutely loves this book. He loves the illustrations, the flaps, etc. He has also already shown interest in going to the bathroom on the toilet and has gone "#1" and #2" quite a few times - although we are not actively potty training him or trying to get him out of his diapers (he's a bit early for that). (Note: I don't think his early interest in the potty has anything to do with the book.)

I, on the other hand, am not too crazy about the actual story. The rhyming is a bit abrupt in some places and almost forced. I also think the story focuses too much on the obstacles. Of course, toddlers aren't going to be potty trained the first time they sit on their potty. However, I think that spending so much of the book focusing on the struggles is a bit confusing for little ones.

2 out of 5 stars just okay   November 10, 2008

This book was just OK for me. I didn't really like the way the story evolved..and I think the video and other sources I found will be better than this particular book. Just my honest opinion.

5 out of 5 stars Emphasizes Attempts to Use Potty   November 5, 2008
Laurie Geodakov (Mesa, AZ USA)
Our daughter likes to do things right or not do them at all (for example, she didn't walk until 18 months). What we needed were books that encouraged the attempts to do something, and framing how to feel about failure. I liked the way the kid in this book tries and tries, fails, doesn't want to, has an accident, but then finally makes it! My favorite page is the last one, where the kid is "so proud of me!" I liked the way one of the other reviewers changes the language a little to make it fit her family better, sort of the way every book in our house has a female lead, regardless of the author's intent.

I highly recommend Sesame Street - Elmo's Potty Time for potty training. A very enjoyable viewing experience, with great songs like the TP Rap and Accidents Happen, which we still refer to even though my daughter is now 4. We also liked the Boon Potty Bench - still used as a bench in the bathroom.

3 out of 5 stars pretty book   October 8, 2008

Not made a difference in her learning to potty but she likes the pictures and it helps to reinforce my message. She'll be ready when she's ready.

4 out of 5 stars Potty Training   September 26, 2008

I purchased this book for my Grandaughter, who is not the least bit interested in going potty. I am hoping seeing the child in the book will encourage her.

She likes to look at the pictures and talk about what is happening on each page. The graphics are good and the colors are bright. The language is simple and the rhyme cute for a two year to understand.
